Applied Science

About Department

The Department of Applied Sciences is a multidisciplinary department which aims to provide high-quality teaching of basic science subjects to the engineering students. It is functioning with dedicated faculty members who provide individual attention to the students with the aim   ofdeveloping a strong foundation for their respective future careers by nurturing their analytical abilities and  logical thinking. The core courses offered are Applied Physics, Applied Chemistry, Applied Mathematics, Communication Skills and Engineering Mechanics. The department provides well equipped laboratory facilities to the students as a part of their curriculum. The department has highly-motivated faculty members with vast research experience from various premier Institutes of India who  endeavour to establish its name in research with world-class and high-impact outputs in the frontiers of Applied Sciences in interdisciplinary areas.

Message from HOD's Desk

Prof. Abhijit Nayak

HOD (Physics & Mechanical Engg.)

The Department of Physics & Mechanical Engineering is one of the indispensable departments of our institute. It imparts excellent quality education in the area of Physics and Mechanical Engineering. Our aim is to run the department with regularity and punctuality. This department aims to provide a strong foundation in the fundamental science with the basic tools of analysis as well as the knowledge of the principles on which engineering is based. The department also strives to instill the scientific temper and the spirit of enquiry in students. It encourages the students to understand and therefore apply the physical laws to the development of their fields of study. The department has well equipped laboratories and a departmental library as well.

The department provides its students with a number of opportunities to develop their overall personality by participating in the various cultural and co-curricular activities held throughout the year. The faculty members of the department take very active part in organizing these activities. The Department also tries to encourage research activities by conducting seminars, conferences and other academic activities. The department can boast of its highly qualified, experienced and dedicated faculty and excellent academic environment.

Prof. Arunima Kumari

HOD (Maths)

It is rightly said that “Mathematics is the mother of all science”. Just as a mother teaches the child to examine and understand everything in childhood, in the same way math teaches us.Math is a powerful tool for global understanding and communication. By using this, students can make sense of the world and solve complex and real problems. For example, the study of algebra and topology can reveal how quickly water becomes contaminated and how many people in a third world country can get sick annually from drinking that water. A study of geometry explains the science behind architecture. Statistics and probability can estimate the death toll from earthquakes and other natural calamities. By studying mathematics one can also check the authenticity and reliability of big-data and even predict about the weather and profits. As the present age is one of skill- development and innovation, the more mathematical we are in our approach, the more successful we will be. Keeping in view the universality of the subject, mathematics faculties of BPIT provide the platform to the students to realize the beauty of this subject and embrace it for solving real life problems.

“The way we communicate with others and with ourselves ultimately determines the quality of our lives. ” Tony Robbins

Welcome to the Department of Humanities at Bhagwan Parshuram Institute of Technology (BPIT). Our department serves as the intellectual and ethical cornerstone of technical education, enriching students with essential skills that extend beyond engineering and technology. It is dedicated to developing responsible and affianced citizens by providing comprehensive education in Human Values and Professional Ethics, Indian Constitution and Communication Skills. We strive to furnish our students with the knowledge and tools necessary to contribute positively to society and excel in their professional lives.

We emphasise the importance of establishing a strong foundation in communication skills for newly admitted engineering students. By prioritising this aspect from the start, we equip them with the tools they need to thrive in their academic and professional journeys.

At the Humanities Department, we believe that technical knowledge, when combined with strong communication abilities, ethical awareness and civic responsibility, creates well-rounded professionals who are not only successful in their careers but also contribute meaningfully to society. Our highly qualified faculty members at BPIT, who are distinguished researchers and educators, bring more than a decade of experience to the classroom in the fields of linguistics, literature and communication. They are dedicated to providing a dynamic and interactive learning experience through engaging lectures, discussions, case studies and real-world applications. Beyond academics, we actively encourage students to participate in various co-curricular and extracurricular activities that refine their soft skills, leadership abilities and critical thinking. The literary society Kalam provides a vibrant platform for students to unleash their literary talents. Committed to nurturing creativity and expression, Kalam organises literary activities, anchoring opportunities and participation in intercollegiate competitions, enabling students to showcase their skills on broader platforms.

We invite you to explore our department and join us on this journey of knowledge, values and lifelong learning.

Dr. Poonam Kathuria

Incharge (Applied Chemistry & Environmental Studies)

Welcome to the departments ofApplied Chemistryand Environmental Studies. The department intends to sharpen the students’ creative talents and help them evolve as better leaders and decision-makers of the nation.

This department teaches courses in Applied Chemistry and Environmental Studies to first-year students of B. Tech. The acquired engineering skills are based on foundations of chemistry as well as environment. The contributions of chemists and environmentalists have given innumerable valuable materials to engineers from Fuels, water, catalysis, green technology, Nanomaterials, and polymers etc. with speciality applications.

The department regularly organises seminars, quiz competitions, industrial visits and expert talks by eminent scientists from universities/research institutes/industries to inculcate an academic and research culture. It aims to arouse the students’ ecological consciousness and an appreciative attitude towards mother nature through environmental studies. The department also organises poster and model making competitions and visits to biodiversity parks. This department also teaches Indian knowledge System as a subject to all the third semester students. Thus, making them acquaintance with our rich and valuable ancient Indian culture system.Students benefit immensely from these courses and acquire skills to apply them in real world life to bridge the gap between ancient Indian wisdom and modern scientific approach. The department of AC and EVS has highly qualified and experienced faculty members who guide and motivate the students with their rich experience.
